But if you only have a few short days to visit, here are the\u00a0<strong>10 must-sees and dos in Umbria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>1 \u2013 Santa Maria degli Angeli<\/h2>\n<p>In\u00a0<strong>Assisi<\/strong>, a large basilica erected to house and protect the smaller <strong>Porziuncola<\/strong> church, the third church protected by Saint Francis, the very heart and soul of Franciscanism.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>2 \u2013 Rocca Paolina<\/h2>\n<p>A monumental fortress, built in 1500 incorporating the houses, turrets and roads of an entire neighbourhood. Today only the quaintest underground part remains, which is also one of the main pedestrian access-ways into\u00a0<strong>Perugia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>3 \u2013 The Duomo of Orvieto<\/h2>\n<p>A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, its gorgeous\u00a0<strong>facade<\/strong> is famous around the world: you can admire it from up close or from afar, with its distinguishing profile that stands out from the rock.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>4 \u2013 Santa Maria della Consolazione church<\/h2>\n<p>At the feet of the\u00a0<strong>Todi<\/strong>\u00a0hill, it is considered one of the symbols of renaissance architecture. Impressive and beautiful, you never get tired of admiring it, possibly sitting on the green grass that surrounds it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>5 \u2013 Ponte delle Torri bridge<\/h2>\n<p>In\u00a0<strong>Spoleto<\/strong>, it was most likely built on the remains of an aqueduct. 230 metres long and approximately 80 meters high, it is an extremely impressive construction that stands out for its size and beauty.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>6 \u2013 Trasimeno Lake<\/h2>\n<p>Fascinating, mysterious, home to precious naturalistic heritage, Trasimeno lake deserves a boat ride to admire the three islands,\u00a0<strong>Maggiore, Minore and Polvese<\/strong>, but also a visit to the many typical towns along its shores.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>7 \u2013 The Marmore Falls<\/h2>\n<p>Among the tallest in Europe, it is a rare and majestic sight to see. Characterised by three falls, dropping an overall\u00a0<strong>165 metres<\/strong>, it can be visited from the various routes and is located in the large Nera River park.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>8 \u2013 Castelluccio<\/h2>\n<p>Part of the municipality of Norcia, it offers an unrivalled panorama, numerous sites of naturalist interest and is especially known for the spectacular <strong>Flowering<\/strong>\u00a0season between June and July.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>9 \u2013 The town of Spello<\/h2>\n<p>Umbria is also famous for its<strong> ancient towns<\/strong>, romantic and characteristic. These include the must-see Spello, marvellously perched on a hill and characterised by little lanes and stone houses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>10 \u2013 The vineyards of Montefalco<\/h2>\n<p>Wine is certainly one of Umbria&#8217;s specialities and the<strong> Sagrantino di Montefalco<\/strong> is particularly appreciated.
